General Info

First Steps

Welcome to the Lacrosse Club! Now that you are a fully-fledged member, we look forward to seeing you at training and socials. Make sure you follow our social media to stay up to date with everything the club has to offer.

Playing Opportunities

Whether you're a beginner who's never picked up a stick before or an international player training to play in the 2022 World Cup, there's a team for you.

On the Women's side we have 5 teams that play in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) League with each team often topping their league. In the 2021-22 season the 1s got to the semifinals and 2s got through to BUCS finals where they came 2nd. The womens 5s also got to the finals of the western conference cup.  We also have a development team for players newer to lacrosse.

On the Men's side we historically had 2 BUCS teams who perform very well. Yet with our continuous expansion, in 2019 we had a Men's 3s team, most of who started as beginners, compete in BUCS for the first time. This season the mens 1s got to the BUCS quarter finals and the mens 2s won the western conference cup!

We have weekly mixed training on Thursdays, with fun tournament matches happening once a month on a Saturday afternoon.

Socials

We have weekly socials on Wednesdays at 7:30pm in Revolution. All information will be posted on our private Facebook page so make sure to check back regularly incase you find yourself unprepared for the theme on a Wednesday morning!

Courses

Through England lacrosse, there are many courses that are available to you, both officiating and coaching.

The University of Exeter and South West Women's Lacrosse Association are willing to subsidise your course so you may not need to pay full price.

Officiating - Referees and Umpires

Anyone who has already obtained their qualification will now need to complete an Umpires Annual Rules Test every year to remain current and make sure that they are individually registered.

Coaching

Please see the England Lacrosse website for more details:

https://learn.englandlacrosse.co.uk

You will need to be individually registered to take advantage of these courses (please see below).

Individual Registration

https://www.englandlacrosse.co.uk/register/

Anyone who plays (not including BUCS), officiates or coaches must be registered with England Lacrosse in order to be insured and allowed to participate in events.

For students, this costs just £15.75 for the year and allows you to take full advantage of everything England Lacrosse has to offer, including discounts with STX and money off when taking courses.
