First Steps

Welcome to the Lacrosse Club! Now that you are a fully-fledged member, we look forward to seeing you at training and socials. Make sure you follow our social media and join this year's Facebook group to stay up to date with everything the club has to offer!

Playing Opportunities

Whether you're a beginner who's never picked up a stick before or an international player, there's a team for you.

On the women's side we have 5 teams that play in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) league with each team often topping their league. In the 2022-23 season the 1s got to the finals and the 5s won the Western Conference Cup. The 2023/24 season saw the 1s reach their semi-final and the 2s won BUCS gold in the National Trophy final.  We also have a development league for non-BUCS players and people newer to lacrosse. Including intra-club matches and opportunities to play other university development teams.

On the men's side we have 2 BUCS teams who perform brilliantly, as well as development and social players. This season the men's 1s got to the BUCS quarter finals and the men's 2s won the Western League Tier 2 and the Western Conference Cup, going undefeated all year.

We have weekly mixed training on Thursdays, with fun tournament matches happening once a month on a Saturday afternoon.

Socials

We have themed weekly socials on Wednesdays at Castle street with access to timepiece tickets for afterwards. All information will be posted on our private Facebook page so make sure to check back regularly incase you find yourself unprepared for the theme on a Wednesday morning!

Courses

Through England Lacrosse, there are many courses that are available to you for both officiating and coaching.

The University of Exeter and South West Women's Lacrosse Association are willing to subsidise your course so you may not need to pay full price.

Officiating - Referees and umpires

Anyone who has already obtained their qualification will now need to complete an Umpires' Annual Rules Test every year to remain current and make sure that they are individually registered.

Coaching

Please see the England Lacrosse website for more details:

https://learn.englandlacrosse.co.uk

You will need to be individually registered to take advantage of these courses (please see below).

Individual Registration

https://www.englandlacrosse.co.uk/register/

Anyone who plays (not including BUCS), officiates or coaches must be registered with England Lacrosse in order to be insured and allowed to participate in events.

For students, this costs just £17.25 for the year and allows you to take full advantage of everything England Lacrosse has to offer, including discounts with STX and money off when taking courses.
