10/10/18 - Exeter Ladies 5s v. Plymouth 1s

Updated: Nov 9, 2018

Win: 16-13

*Having added a team to the Women's side this year, this is the first match that the 5s have ever played*

The 5s travelled to Plymouth set to make their BUCS debut. Despite some pre-match nerves at the prospect of playing Plymouth 1s, the newcomers were keen to start the season with a bang. After a questionable start (Plymouth scored within the first 30 seconds), we started to find our feet, and grew in confidence after being the front runners at the end of the first quarter. Plymouth 1s started to get frustrated, and dare I say embarrassed, that they were losing to a 5th team, albeit a very talented 5th team. As the second half unravelled, we started to dominate the game, with Plymouth calling a time out in the final quarter in a desperate attempt to interrupt our flurry of goal scoring... However, it proved unsuccessful. The 5s triumphed 16-13. Hannah Mather was a crucial member of the attack, and deservedly earnt the title of Woman of the Match. A cracking start to the season for the 5s! Let’s hope this success continues.

MVP:

Hannah Mather
